Puppetry is everywhere in the Nordics and the Baltics
Puppet theater is more and more visible within the field of performing arts. Sometimes it plays the main role, sometimes it is an element alongside other expressions. A similar development is taking place throughout Europe and not least in the Nordic countries and the Baltics.
The art of puppetry has a long tradition of being mobile.
UNIMA, an organization within UNESCO, gathers all the puppetry of the world. In order to strengthen the networks for professionals and students within the Nordic region and the Baltics, common areas for communication are now being created. A professional dialogue between theater artists, teachers and researchers is taking shape, as for example within Unima Nordic and the Unima Nordic Festival Network.
What does the art form look like in the region? Are there puppet theater trainings? Is there support and understanding for the art form?
