Forever young - Regionteater Väst
The jury’s motivation
The actors need the young audience's DNA to escape their mortality and, as if by magic, the audience's contract is both upside down and perfectly clear. Between skincare routines and karaoke, the three actors tackle youth, ageing and the meaning of life. A serious game in a titillating and carnal aesthetic universe. It is funny, vulnerable and loving, and is performed with an audience connection that outweighs the dramatic text. Forever Young is an outstanding example of the playful power of process-created theatre.
Three individuals operate a salon. They are obsessed with youth and terrified of aging and its ultimate consequence – death. They adore teenagers and all that teenagers get to do and discover, such as friendships, betrayals, infatuations, and secrets. They love their lives. Their brains. Their elastic skin.
Research has shown that warm and loving relationships with other people hold greater significance for a long life than genetics and social status. The theatrical piece Forever young focuses on the transition from youth to adulthood but also poses the question – what would happen if humans lived forever?
