Lorpan längtar

The Jury’s Motivation

Stina Wirsén, author and illustrator for children’s books, has a truly special sensitivity to preschool children’s need for artistic expression portraying strong and often challenging emotions and relationships. Together with director Ingalill Ellung and Dockteatern Tittut, she invites her audiences into a world of delightfully imaginative theatre about the vital importance of play. Through exquisite puppets, respectful tenderness and clever details, Lorpan’s longing for a friend is brought to life. And indeed — she manages to persuade both stressed adults and a new friend to take a break to play with her in the park.

Lorpan sits alone in the playground, scanning the area for a friend to play with — someone who takes play just as seriously as she does. With all her energy, she searches and insists on her right to play!

Lorpan längtar is a love letter to play. To the joy of finding a friend who plays by the same rules. A newly written performance by Ingalill Ellung and Stina Wirsén.

“The story is portrayed with warmth and presence, and those familiar with Stina Wirsén’s picture books will recognise much of it. A game of hide-and-seek becomes an exciting theatre within the theatre. Ellung draws a surprising amount from her small ensemble, consisting of two puppeteers and six puppets.”
Dagens Nyheter

“Bengt Ernryd’s delicately refined music underscores the gentle, playful tone. The puppets are absolutely wonderful — from Lorpan with her red-haired tousle, round cheeks and dress, to the super-sweet Bim and the wobbling, long-legged, sharp-nosed adults.”
