Glängtan
- Backa teater
Below the ground, where we cannot see, the trees lead their mysterious lives. They talk to each other, take care of their youngsters, and they might even remember things. They feel when someone’s chopping in them, warn each other of diseases and when it’s spring one can hear the water run through the stem.
Glängtan is a performance inspired by Peter Wohlleben’s book The Hidden Lives of Trees, a popular science book which describes new discoveries where the truth is unimaginable and the scientific seems magical. So incredible that one can hardly believe it’s true.
Glängtan can´t play during Bibu 2018.

A poetic and magical performance. The stage design is captivating and the audience is sucked into a spiral that coils like growth rings in a tree trunk. Actors, musicians and a dancer come together to form a group of people in a forest, lost or not, which in a subtle way convey thoughts about ourselves and our planet through their words and their bodies. The performance is inspired by Peter Wohleben's book ‘The Hidden Life of Trees’. And, naturally, it is about trees but above all, we experience a deep existential performance about man’s place in nature and the universe, which results in a reverence for all life. A time for reflection, gentle sniggers and philosophical questions. All the elements of the theatre, traditional as well as new, are used to expose the audience to an extraordinary artistic experience.
Glängtan can´t play during Bibu 2018.
