Celebrating Indigenous Voices - what stories are we telling, and what stories we want to tell in the future.

Write Local Play Global in collaboration with Indigenous Cultures Institute (US); ASSITEJ Australia; ASSITEJ Sweden; ASSITEJ Canada; ASSITEJ South Africa.  

Roundtable exploring listening to, highlighting & encouraging Indigenous & other under-represented voices plus online videos with spoken/sung/danced content from artists from 5 Indigenous communities. A unique opportunity to listen to and discuss ways to empower indigenous voices, artistic languages and narratives as well as other historically under-represented communities including those with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people, and more.

“Celebrating Indigenous Voices” will be a hybrid event. At the AAG there will be an in-person roundtable seminar led by indigenous artists who will ultimately determine the format of the discussion, which might explore ways to listen to, highlight and encourage Indigenous voices. An essential addition to the event will be written background and educational material as well videos with performance content by and with Indigenous communities from Sweden, Australia, South Africa, the US/Canada, and Hispanic Indigenous artists from Texas, USA.
