OPEN STAGES: PERFORMING ARTS AND SOCIAL INCLUSION

At the occasion of ASSITEJ's Artistic Gathering in 2019, ASSITEJ France, Italy and Spain united and launched Open Stages. This project, articulated around the website openstages.net, which has been presented at the Assitej International World Congress 2021, wants to promote all that is imagined and produced by the TYA community around the globe to address the issue of migrants and refugees. It is open to everyone who intends to present a show, a play, a research, a social project, based on performing arts,  which is aimed to migrant children and families, or to raise the public awareness on this topic.

In the spirit of ASSITEJ Italy's PalchiAPerti/OpenStages manifesto, it also addresses themes such as comparison with the Other, listening, reception. As adults and citizens, concerned by the evolution of social relations, the perverse political use of migration in our respective countries and many others, we consider these themes as essential in the dialogue with young people, children and early children.

Today, the situation of Ukrainian people brings the topic under a harsh light, but it also proves that concrete solidarity can be within reach. Through this seminar, we would like to keep collecting and sharing good practices from and among the members. We would like to celebrate those who are giving hands now, and to look for means to help people and National Centers to take action."
