Jag tänker på dig (I'm thinking of you) - Johanssons pelargoner och dans
The jury’s motivation
A gentle voice in the headphones guides us through the library. On the basis of our own bodies, we move through the room in a choreography. Alone and together with others. With assignments we are taken into the world of literature. Words connect time and space. Simple actions make us part of history. The performance is a celebration of reading and libraries as defenders of democratic values and freedom of expression. Libraries as meeting places all over the world - a cultural policy statement.
I’M THINKING OF YOU lets you discover or rediscover the library. As a participant you are invited to follow instructions through headphones, and interact with the library environment. With a touch of magical realism, you will experience sneak choreography, censorship and get a glimpse of thousands of years of books’ history. You will get to perform covert acts of resistance and discover secret messages right in the middle of a public space. I’M THINKING OF YOU offers a playful opportunity to look at one of our most important public spaces with new eyes, and to make the library your own.
I'M THINKING OF YOU is played both as a school performance and public audiences, from 10 years. During a five years period, the work is also available for individual lending at 11 libraries around Sweden, to give library visitors a moment of artistic experience in the middle of everyday life.
NOTE: This performance can be held both in Swedish and English
